
Level 1
The inherent working properties of Acrylic paints and mediums provide an excellent opportunity for learning the basic skill sets associated with rendering an image in paint. Paint application and mixing, underpainting, color mixing, glazing techniques, creating textures and surfaces, are all covered in class demonstrations and a series of painting projects. Students will work from objects, still life set-ups and photo references.
Level 2
Students will focus on the relationship between form and idea in choosing painting methods and in developing personal images. Emphasis will be on fostering an awareness of the uniques qualities of paint and its ability to communicate visual messages and with aspirations and substance of painting as the continuing goal.
For those interested in a session on painting a portrait(s) this will be offered as part of this session. I will demonstrate painting techniques associated with painting from the life model. Basic anatomy of the head, neck and upper torso will be covered in class demonstrations as well as proportion and color mixing of flesh tones.
